Why Communities and Coaching Boost ROI - and How to Build Them Right
Jul 19, 2025
If you’re only using Kajabi for courses, you’re missing a trick.
Because here’s the reality:
Most online courses never get finished.
Some studies put average completion rates under 10%. For self-paced courses with no support, it’s often less than 3%.
That’s not a tech problem. It’s a design problem.
People don’t buy content, they buy progress. And if they don’t get that, they stop showing up.
That’s where community and coaching change everything.
Why It Matters
When you add support, structure, and accountability, completion rates jump. So does client satisfaction and retention.
Here’s what I see working:
- Coaching adds clarity and momentum. Even one live Q&A a month can make a huge difference.
- Community reduces isolation. Learners feel seen, supported, and more likely to follow through.
- Guidance builds trust and loyalty. Clients stay longer when they feel looked after.
The impact?
You’re not just selling a course, you’re delivering real outcomes. And that’s what keeps people coming back.
How to Build It Right in Kajabi
This is where Kajabi shines, if you use it with intention.
Here’s how I build it for clients:
- Use the Community product, not Facebook or other third-party tools. It's distraction-free, customisable, and you control the experience.
- Structure it by outcome, not by module. Think "Quick Wins", "Ask a Coach", or "Accountability Threads", not "Week 1, Week 2".
- Tie it to your offer. Set up access groups so people see only what’s relevant to them. This keeps things simple and secure.
- Build in prompts. Weekly questions, check-ins, or challenges — don’t wait for people to speak up.
- Layer in live coaching, even if it’s just monthly. Use the Community Meetups and Live Room or Zoom to answer real questions, then drop the replay into the course.
- Automate reminders. Use email or notifications to nudge people back into the space.
What This Looks Like in Practice
One recent build we did:
- Digital product with 6 core modules
- Weekly “Implementation Thread” in the Community
- Monthly live Meetup in the Community Live Room
- Private access group for high-tier members
- Quizzes and challenges built from the course content
- Automated emails to re-engage quiet members
Kajabi isn’t just a course platform, it’s a full ecosystem. But it only works if you build for engagement, not just delivery.
